Rancang Bangun Stand Front Axle Shaft Dump Truck Volvo FMX Type Rigid

he front axle shaft is a shaft for supporting the vehicle load on the front wheels and as steering for the vehicle. The front axle shaft is divided into two types, one of which is rigid type and independent type. In the Mechanical Engineering workshop, the Balikpapan State Polytechnic has a Front Axle Shaft Dump Truck FMX Rigid Type for students to carry out practical work directly in the field by disassembling such as components on the front axle shaft. The problems that occurred in the Mechanical Engineering workshop at the Balikpapan State Polytechnic were the limitations of practical equipment and the lack of student skills regarding maintenance and dismantling of the front axle shaft. In the Mechanical Engineering workshop of the Balikpapan State Polytechnic, there is no front axle shaft stand, so that during the practicum the front axle shaft cannot be turned to the right or left and also cannot dismantle the components of the front axle shaft. Based on the problems that occur, the authors designed the manufacture of a stand with a design using AutoCAD as shown in Figure 4.1. Manufacturing and testing were carried out at the Mechanical Engineering workshop at the Balikpapan State Polytechnic. Testing the strength of the frame is done through theoretical calculations. The results of the analysis after using the stand, the front axle shaft can be moved and easy to disassemble, compared to before using the stand the front axle shaft component cannot be disassembled because it is lying on the floor, and the steering cannot be turned to the right and left. Front axle shaft merupakan poros untuk penyangga dari beban kendaraan pada roda depan dan sebagai steering untuk kendaraan. Front axle shaft terbagi menjadi dua type, salah satunya type rigid dan type independent Di workshop Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan mempunyai Front Axle Shaft Dump Truck FMX Type Rigid untuk mahasiswa melakukan praktikum secara langsung dilapangan dengan melakukan pembongkaran seperti komponen-komponen pada front axle shaft. Permasalahan yang terjadi di workshop Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan adalah keterbatasan peralatan praktikum dan kurangnya keterampilan mahasiswa tentang melakukan perawatan dan pembongkaran front axle shaft. Di workshop Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan belum terdapat front axle shaft stand, sehingga pada saat proses melakukan praktrikum front axle shaft tidak bisa dibelokkan kearah kanan atau ke kiri dan juga tidak bisa melakukan pembongkaran pada komponen-komponen front axle shaft. Berdasarkan masalah yang terjadi, penulis merancang pembuatan stand dengan perancangan menggunakan autocad sebagaimana terlihat pada gambar 4.1. Pembuatan dan pengujian dilakukan di wokshop Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan. Pengujian kekuatan rangka dilakukan melalui perhitungan secara teoritkal. Hasil analisa setelah menggunakan stand, front axle shaft bisa digerakkan dan mudah untuk melakukan pembongkaran, di bandingkan dengan sebelum menggunakan stand komponen front axle shaft tidak bisa di bongkar karena tergeletak dilantai, dan steering tidak bisa dibelokkan kearah kanan dan kiri.
