ABSTRACT In the mining world actually can’t be separated from the use of heavy equipment, one of them is bulldozer. Bulldozer can be operated on the muddy, rocky, mountainous and in the wooded. The field that attached is heavy appertained. It is of course gave impacts directly on the directly line to the ground which is Undercarriage. Based on the Basic Mechanic Course of PT United Tractors Tbk. in 2011 the cost of Undercarriage Bulldozer care at 45 to 60 % from the total cost of maintenance tools. One of the undercarriage bulldozer is idler that have to help tighten or loosen track and helps track link was rolling therefore units can move. By using the idler the docking with the track link. It will cause the wear and tear on idler. If it is happened to wear and tear than standard will be the replacement of components. Therefore the researcher interested did this research that has aims to determine the age of use of the components of Idler by knowing early life time of idler. We could make plans to replace idler to component replacement was already available and as an effort to prevent the breakdown time, which was caused by waiting parts or pending parts. The research method that was used was descriptive research. The research used data from secondary which is data P2U D375A-5 from Januari-september in 2014. The results obtained during the research was life time idler D375A-5 the shortest 4.408 hours, the longest 5.415 hours and life time using KUC’s formula is 5751 hours. ABSTRAK Pada dunia pertambangan tidak akan bisa terlepas dari penggunaan alat berat, salah satunya adalah bulldozer. Bulldozer dapat dioperasikan pada medan yang berlumpur, berbatu, berbukit dan di daerah yang berhutan. Medan yang ditempuh tersebut tergolong berat. Hal tersebut tentu saja berefek langsung pada komponen yang bersinggungan langsung dengan tanah yaitu Undercarriage. Berdasarkan Basic Mechanic Course PT. United Tractors Tbk. tahun 2011 biaya perawatan Undercarriage Bulldozer mencapai 45-60% dari total biaya perawatan alat. Salah satu komponen undercarriage bulldozer tersebut adalah idler yang berfungsi membantu menegangkan atau mengendorkan track serta membantu track link menggulung agar unit bisa bergerak. Dengan begitu idler bergesekan langsung dengan track link. Hal ini akan mengakibatkan keausan pada idler. Apabila sudah terjadi keausan melebihi standar akan dilakukan penggantian komponen. Oleh karena itu penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui usia pakai dari komponen Idler sehingga dengan mengetahui lebih awal life time dari idler, kita bisa membuat perencanaan penggantian idler agar komponen pengganti sudah tersedia dan sebagai upaya mencegah tingginya breakdown time, yang disebabkan oleh waiting parts atau pending parts. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder yaitu data P2U D375A-5 bulan Januari-september tahun 2014. Hasil yang didapat selama penelitian adalah life time idler D375A-5 yang terpendek 4.408 jam, terpanjang 5.415 jam dan life time menggunakan rumus KUC adalah 5751 jam.Keyword : Kata kunci : Bulldozer, Undercarriage, Idler, Life Time.
