PENGARUH BAHAN TAMBAH POLIMER TERHADAP KUAT TEKAN BETON

Polymer concrete is a material added in a concrete mix that is good because it has a more plastis mortar, hardening faster, not need wet curing, but relatively expensive because in its distribution only in some areas Indonesian. The material is a polymer composed of molecules called monomers, if that polymer has a same type of its monomer, it called homopolymer and if its different it called copolymer. In this research uses local materials of Palu’s sand and Samboja’s gravel with polymer added. Polymer percentage of 5%, 10%, 15% and the amount of water. The purpose of this research is to get the value of compressive strength concrete cube which the required of characteristic concrete amount to 360 kg/cm2. The sample used as many as 24 cubes, with each sample number being 12 cubes for 7 days old concrete and 12 cubes for 28 days old concrete. The test objects code used in the 7 days old concrete are OA, C1A, C2A, C3A and in the 28 days old concrete are OA2, C1B, C2B, C3B. From the results of testing in the 7 days old concrete, an increased in the value of compressive strength concrete are only experienced by C1A samples of 8.12% which value of compressive strength amount to 360 kg/cm2. While in the 28 days old concrete, samples has been decreased with the values of compressive strength are C1B 605,1 kg/cm2, C2B 565,24 kg/cm2, and C3B 346,44 kg/cm2. The addition of polymers by as much as 5% and 10% were able to achieve value of compressive strength which the required of compressive strength concrete amount to 360 kg/cm2. Keywords: polymer, compressive strength, concrete, cubes Polimer concrete merupakan bahan tambah dalam campuran beton yang baik karena mempunyai sifat adukan yang lebih plastis, pengerasan lebih cepat, tidak perlu perawatan basar, tetapi relatif mahal karena dalam distribusinya hanya ada di beberapa daerah di Indonesia. Polimer adalah suatu bahan yang terdiri dari unit molekul yang disebut monomer, jika monomernya sejenis disebut homopolimer dan jika monomernya berbeda disebut kopolimer. Penelitian ini menggunakan material lokal pasir samboja dan kerikil palu dengan bahan tambah polimer. Persentase polimer sebesar 5%, 10%, dan 15% jumlah air. Dengan tujuan penelitian untuk mendapatkan nilai kuat tekan beton kubus yang disyaratkan beton karakterisik 360 kg/cm2. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 24 buah kubus, dengan masing-masing jumlah sampel adalah 12 kubus untuk beton umur 7 hari dan 12 kubus untuk beton 28 hari. Kode benda uji yang digunakan pada umur 14 hari adalah OA, C1A, C2A, C3A dan pada umur 28 hari adalah OA2, C1B, C2B, C3B. Dari hasil pengujian Pada umur 7 hari, peningkatan nilai kuat tekan beton hanya dialami oleh sampel C1A sebesar 8,12 % dengan nilai kuat tekan 360 kg/cm2. Sedangkan pada umur 28 hari, sampel mengalami penurunan kuat tekan dengan nilai sampel C1B 605,1 kg/cm2, C2B 565,24 kg/cm2, dan C3B 346,44 kg/cm2. Penambahan polimer sebanyak 5% dan 10% mampu mencapai nilai kuat tekan beton yang disyaratkan yaitu sebesar 360 kg/cm2. Kata kunci: polimer, kuat tekan, beton, kubus.
