On the mining industry, innovation is always needed to help the manpower. Along with the demands of the times, many people want to do everything with the right system and safety guaranteed. One of them is to reduce the risk of injury in the process of disposal and installation of cover accumulator brake. The researcher emphasized that the process of disposal and installation of the cover accumulator brake has been using special tools, however the special tools that was used often found some problems, which are often missed and broken between the connection of the stood and plate on the special tool. It can cause injury to the manpower and damage to the work piece. Therefore, the researcher is interested to conduct the research that is making special modification tool to remove and install the cover accumulator brake unit komatsu HD 785-7 which is aimed to be one of the problem solution that is being happened. The results of this research is to make the manpower feel more safet and comfortable when they are doing the release and installation of accumulator brake unit komatsu HD 785-7. During the modification test of the special tool, it did not encounter any obstacle so that it can be concluded that this special tool modification is safe and usable. Dalam dunia industri pertambangan inovasi selalu dibutuhkan untuk membantu pekerjaan manusia. Dengan adanya tuntutan zaman sehingga manusia menginginkan segala sesuatu dengan sistem tepat dan terjamin keselamatannya. Salah satunya untuk menurunkan tingkat resiko terjadinya cedera pada proses pelepasan dan pemasangan cover accumulator brake. Penulis memperhatikan bahwa proses pelepasan dan pemasangan cover accumulator brake sudah menggunakan special tool, namun special tool yang digunakan tidak aman dan sering bermasalah yaitu sering meleset dari cover accumulator brake dan patah pada sambungan stood dengan plat special tool. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan cedera pada tenaga kerja dan rusak pada benda kerja. Oleh karena itu penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian pembuatan modifikasi special tool untuk melepas dan memasang cover accumulator brake unit komatsu HD 785-7 yang bertujuan untuk menjadi solusi dari permasalahan yang sedang terjadi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari modifikasi special tool adalah membuat tenaga kerja merasa lebih aman dan nyaman saat melakukan pelepasan dan pemasangan cover accumulator brake unit komatsu HD 785-7. Selama uji coba modifikasi special tool tidak menemui kendala, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa modifikasi special tool ini aman dan dapat digunakan.Keyword : pelepasan, pemasangan, cover accumulator brake, special tool, modifikasi special tool, lebih aman.
